Public Classes & Workshops

Weekly Classes: (currently all through Yoga District in Washington, DC)

Mondays, 7:45 PM: Restorative & Yoga Nidra (Petworth)

“Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, relax the body, calm the mind and nervous system, and are recommended for yoga practitioners of any level. Restorative Yoga moves the student slowly through floor poses supported by props such as blankets, bolsters, and blocks. Each posture is held for 5-10 minutes. Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice of non-sleep deep rest, bringing attention to each area of the body to heighten sensation and soften the tissues therein. Both can improve bodily functions such as sleep, digestion, and healing. Compliment a more active practice or develop your capacities for stillness and awareness with this gentle class.”

Wednesdays, 7:45 PM: Pre- and Post-Natal Parents & Partners (Bloomingdale)

“This class is designed to meet the need of students journeying along the pregnancy path and new parents healing through the postpartum period. This class also welcomes partners who would like to move with the birthing parent. Class is tailored to meet the ever-changing needs of a birthing parent body during all stages of pregnancy and the postpartum period. Connecting yoga postures with the breath can help bring awareness to the mind, body, and spirit, and it can also help new parents reconnect with their bodies. Yoga can also alleviate many of pregnancy's discomforts, such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain, and sciatica. For new parents, the class will offer yoga postures to help regain abdominal strength, body flexibility, and toning. Class will feature guided meditation, breathing techniques, hip opening postures, practices to relieve tension in the shoulders and neck, pelvic floor exercises, relaxation techniques, back care exercises, yoga movements to prepare the body for birth, and methods to encourage overall postural improvement.”

Thursdays, 6:00 PM: Slow Flow & Restore (14th Street)

“Wind down after a long day or week with this low and slow flow class. Students will move through a sequence familiar to vinyasa practitioners with particular emphasis on floor postures, deep stretching, and breath work. While the majority of class will be close to the ground to allow students to cultivate calm and presence, a few standing or balance postures may be sprinkled in to extend that grounded feeling to even more challenging postures. Each month, students will explore a new yogic theme to deepen their explorations of body, movement, breath, and rest.”

Thursdays, 7:10 PM: Restorative Express (14th Street)

“Restorative Yoga relaxes the body, calms the mind and nervous system, and is recommended for yoga practitioners of any level. This Restorative Express class achieves those goals in a small dose! Restorative Yoga moves the student slowly through floor poses supported by props such as blankets, bolsters, and blocks. Each posture is held for 5-8 minutes. Compliment a more active practice or develop your capacities for stillness and awareness with this quick yet impactful class.”
